Cold Laser Therapy in Surrey

At Impulse Health and Wellness, we are dedicated to offering cutting-edge treatments that promote natural healing and improve your quality of life. One of the advanced therapies we provide is Cold Laser Therapy, a non-invasive treatment designed to reduce pain, accelerate recovery, and enhance tissue repair.

What is Cold Laser Therapy?

Cold Laser Therapy, also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), uses low-intensity laser light to stimulate cellular healing. Most recently, the nomenclature has been updated and it is now called Photobiomodulation (PBM). Unlike surgical lasers, cold lasers do not cut or damage tissue. Instead, they penetrate the skin’s surface to target the deeper layers, enhancing cellular function and promoting regeneration.

Benefits of Cold Laser Therapy

  • Pain Relief: Reduces inflammation and soothes discomfort in conditions like arthritis, tendonitis, and sports injuries.
  • Accelerated Healing: Promotes faster recovery from soft tissue injuries, sprains, and strains.
  • Non-Invasive: Provides a pain-free, drug-free alternative to surgery or medication.
  • Versatile Treatment: Can treat a wide range of conditions, including neck and back pain, joint pain, muscle injuries, and more.

How Does Cold Laser Therapy Work?

Cold laser therapy works by emitting specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed by the cells in the targeted area. This stimulates the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy source for cells, which enhances cellular repair and regeneration. The process reduces inflammation, increases blood flow, and promotes tissue healing without the need for invasive procedures.

Conditions Treated with Cold Laser Therapy

  • Chronic Pain: Relieves symptoms of arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis.
  • Sports Injuries: Speeds up the recovery of sprains, strains, and muscle tears.
  • Back and Neck Pain: Eases tension and inflammation in the spine and muscles.
  • Wound Healing: Aids in the healing of ulcers, cuts, and other soft tissue injuries.

Real Patients, Real Results

A 64-year-old government employee came to see us after a friend (who’s already a patient) said, “You’ve got to try this place.” Two weeks earlier, she’d woken up with a sudden, sharp pain in her left hip—deep in the joint, like it was coming from the socket itself. Certain movements would set off a stabbing sensation, and anything active like hiking, biking, or skiing quickly became a no-go. Normally, she’s the type of person who’s always on the move, so being sidelined by hip pain felt incredibly limiting.

She’d already tried a few things to get answers. Her medical doctor was able to rule out arthritis and gave her pain relief medication, but there still wasn’t a clear reason for what was happening. She also booked in for massage, hoping it would help loosen things up—unfortunately, it left her feeling even more sore. With a background of cranky joints (including osteoarthritis in her knee and ankle), heel spurs, and an old ski injury from years ago, she just wanted a plan that made sense and helped her feel like herself again.

After assessing her movement and checking how her hip and lower back were working together, we found a few key areas that weren’t moving the way they should. We also took X-rays to rule out anything that would make care inappropriate and to get a clearer picture of what might be contributing. From there, we put together a care plan that combined cold laser therapy to calm things down around the hip, along with chiropractic adjustments to support better motion through the areas involved.

Over the course of 24 sessions, she steadily felt the change—less pain, easier movement, and more confidence getting back into everyday activity. By the end, she was completely pain-free and back to hiking and biking, with plans to return to skiing as soon as the snow builds up on the mountains. She was so happy with how her body responded that she decided to continue with regular wellness visits, including cold laser sessions for her knees to help keep her moving comfortably.
