How Does Acupuncture Work?

tcm-organ-clock

Acupuncture aims at stimulating a healing reaction in the body. Acupuncture does not treat diseases directly but helps the body cure ailments by acupuncture stimulation, which induces a healing response. In other words, it helps activate the body’s natural healing system.

The human body’s natural healing system works through the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes relaxation and healing. Acupuncture treatment focuses on increasing qi, your body’s vital energy. This energy flow, if disrupted, can affect your body’s internal organs and other tissues.

Acupuncture is highly effective in relieving pain by stimulating the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters that transmit electrical signals throughout the nervous system. Acupuncture also facilitates circulation of blood, a key aspect in the prevention and treatment of vascular disease, increases metabolism, and allows improved regulation of the urinary system, bowels and perspiration.

Oriental Diagnosis & Holistic Approach

Yoon’s interest in the emotional and physical aspects of health led him to obtain a two-year Diploma of Rehabilitation from Lethbridge College of Alberta and to become a Registered Acupuncturist after three-year education of Central College of British Columbia.

He has not only studied Yin Yang Pulse Diagnosis & Tonification Sedation Stimulation Method, but also has practised Scalp Acupuncture, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Acupressure. All my life I have been putting Nishi Natural Health Therapy into practice. Read More…

TCM Approach & Western Methods

Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion and acupressure have been used for centuries to treat acute and chronic diseases. Yoon is very aware of conditions that often see great improvement using the TCM approach where Western methods lack success. By appropriately combining and balancing his expertise in Oriental traditions with Western methods of rehabilitation, Yoon can more effectively treat a patient’s ailment. A patient listener, Yoon mindfully attends to patients who consult him about their health and life challenges.

Integrated Approach & Combined Therapies

Yoon’s integrated approach is especially effective for stroke rehabilitation. It also has applications for relief from anxiety, depression, treating insomnia and alleviating stress.
In one case, a patient with a concussion noticed remarkable relief from headaches and neck stiffness after Yoon’s treatment. By using the combined therapies another patient with allergic rhinitis (an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways) was able to sleep deeply and through the night after his first treatment. In addition, a middle-aged couple seeking help for impotence and low sex drive were happy to enjoy a satisfactory married life again after acupuncture treatments.

Yoon’s combined approach is particularly effective for numerous conditions.  Though not limited to these areas, his specialties are:

  •  Allergy relief
  • Cosmetic acupuncture and skin conditions
  • Facial paralysis
  • Impotence and low libido
  • Infertility
  • Insomnia
  • Migraine
  • Pain Management: general pain, lower back pain, post-surgical pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Stroke rehabilitation

When he is not in the clinic Yoon enjoys piano music that soothes his mind and heart. Walking trails in the park and connecting with nature restores his energy and zest for life.
